1995-96 Freshman Class Tallies Impressive Graduation Rates
Oct. 17, 2002 LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Athletics Department announced today that the 1995-96 - scholarship freshman class tallied the highest graduation rates in school history. The 1995-96 graduation rates were released earlier this week. "The key to graduation rates is retention, you have to be able to keep your student-athletes from year to year," said John Anderson, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services. "If a student-athlete transfers they will count against your graduation rates, even if they leave in good academic standing. Our coaches deserved a lot of credit for these rates because of their recruiting efforts and commitment to education. Credit should also go to Texas Tech as an institution. The administration, faculty and the community of Lubbock all play a part in the retention of our student-athletes."
