Headspace
Texas Tech Athletics is proud to support student-athlete well-being with access to Headspace—an evidence-based mental health and mindfulness platform designed to help you manage stress, improve sleep, and build healthy routines.
Quick Start
- Download the Headspace app (iOS or Android).
- Create an account (or sign in).
- Activate access using your Texas Tech email, if prompted.
- Start with a short daily session—3 to 10 minutes is enough to build momentum.
What You’ll Find in Headspace
Headspace offers short, guided tools you can use anywhere—before practice, after class, or when you’re winding down for the night.
- Guided meditation
- Sleep sounds and wind-down routines
- Breathing and grounding exercises
- Stress and anxiety support
- Focus and concentration tools
- Mindfulness basics
- Managing performance pressure
- Building confidence
- Healthy habits and routines
- Short “SOS” sessions for tough moments
- Movement and mindful fitness
- Everyday resilience skills
How to Use It
If you’re new to mindfulness, start small and keep it consistent. A few minutes per day is more effective than long sessions once in a while.
- Before competition: use a brief breathing exercise or focus routine.
- After practice: try a short recovery or decompression session.
- For sleep: use a wind-down routine, sleepcast, or calming audio.
- During stressful weeks: use quick “SOS” content when you need it most.
Headspace + Sport Psychology
Headspace is a great self-guided resource, but it doesn’t replace clinical care or sport psychology services. If you’re struggling to function at your highest level, feeling unlike yourself, or stuck on a specific issue, it’s a good time to connect with Sport Psychology.
How to Make an Appointment
Email athletics.sportpsychology@ttu.edu or call (806) 742-1938 and leave a brief message indicating your interest and times you’re available to meet. You can also stop by the Sport Psychology offices in the Football Training Facility or United Supermarkets Arena.
After-Hours Resources
Sport Psychology is not a 24/7 clinic and provides services during normal business hours. If you need urgent non-life-threatening attention after hours, here are resources at Texas Tech University and in Lubbock:
