- Title:
- Graduate Student Manager
Adriana Perez, one of the top hitters in Texas Tech history, enters her first season working with the Red Raider softball program as she will serve as a graduate student manager for the 2015 season.
In this role, Perez will be responsible for many of the behind-the-scenes aspects of the program, including equipment, practice preparations, batting practice and team travel.
Perez previously spent the 2014 season as a volunteer assistant at crosstown Lubbock Christian University. She is also active on the youth circuit as she has been part of the West Texas Firecrackers organization for the past two years.
Perez joined LCU's program following a successful two-year career as a Red Raider from 2012-13 where she still remains one of the top power hitters in school history thanks in part to 29 career home runs and 105 RBI during that time.
The Lancaster, California native compiled a .315 average in her two seasons for a Red Raider offense that regularly ranked among the nation's leaders for batting average, runs scored and home runs.
Perez hit .351 with 15 home runs and 55 RBI during her inaugural season alone where she helped lead the Red Raiders to the NCAA Seattle Regional. Her performance at the plate earned Perez first team NFCA All-Region honors as well as All-Big 12 second team accolades.
Perez still ranks among the Texas Tech single-season and career leaders in several offensive categories. Her 29 career home runs are the third most currently in program history while her 105 RBI and .315 average stand eighth and ninth overall.
Prior to joining the Red Raider program this past fall, Perez was active with the Mexican National Team in several international tournaments, including the annual World Cup of Softball event that was held last July in California. She will remain active with the Mexican National Team in the upcoming years.
Perez is the daughter of Rene and Perla Perez.
