LUBBOCK, Texas - The emphasis was on moving forward as Texas Tech began preparations for Saturday?s Big 12 Conference matchup against Colorado with a 60-minute workout at Jones Stadium Monday night.
Head coach Spike Dykes said the Red Raiders will have their hands full when the Buffaloes visit Lubbock for the 70th Homecoming game on the Texas Tech campus, and dwelling on last week?s loss at Oklahoma State will not aid in the effort.
?The teams that aren?t going to win any more are the ones who are pouting around after a loss,? Dykes said. ?We won?t ever take a loss lightly, but we had better be ready to go this week and that started today.?
The dean of Big 12 coaches said Monday?s practice was even better than expected, that it was ?a good night and a good practice. Everybody was bouncing around pretty good.?
Colorado brings a multi-faceted attack into Jones Stadium and Dykes said that Tech has plenty of work to do before Saturday?s 2:35 p.m. kickoff for an ABC Sports regional television audience and a Jones Stadium Homecoming crowd.
?We have a lot of things to cover,? Dykes said. ?We are playing a team that does a lot things and executes them all very well.
?They are a multi-formation team with a thick play book, so we have a lot of work to do as far as recognition is concerned,? he said.
Texas Tech comes into the game 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Big 12 action. Colorado is 3-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Every team in the Big 12 South Division has at least one loss, while Colorado is one of three teams in the North undefeated in league play.
