LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head football coach Spike Dykes called Tuesday?s two-hour practice ?a normal Tuesday, nothing unusual? as the Red Raiders continued work toward Saturday?s Big 12 matchup against Colorado.
Dykes said that in addition to implementing the game plan and schemes for the Buffaloes, the Red Raiders spent a lot of time working on the kicking game and some time on blitz drills.
?It was a good Tuesday, good concentration and good intensity,? Dykes said. ?Other than the extra work on the kicking game, everything else was pretty much according to Hoyle.?
Immediately following Tuesday?s drill, the Jones Stadium work crew went to work putting up the new goal post in the South endzone. The replacement was ordered last week after Tech fans brought the old one down following the Red Raiders victory over Texas A&M. The goal post in the opposite endzone will be repainted to match the new one.
On the injury front, a pair of starters have returned to work this week. Offensive lineman Jason May and cornerback Oscar Solis are practicing again. May hasn?t practiced since a knee injury sidelined him on the second series of the Arizona State game. Solis injured an ankle in week two at Louisiana-Lafayette.
Texas Tech comes into Saturday?s game 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12. Colorado is 3-2 overall, but undefeated at 2-0 in the league.
Kickoff for Tech?s 70th Homecoming game is set for 2:35 p.m. at Jones Stadium. ABC Sports will televise the game on a regional basis.
