
Tech Routs Colorado, 31-10

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Shaud Williams ran for 230 yards and two touchdowns as Texas Tech routed mistake-prone Colorado 31-10 Saturday afternoon.
Texas Tech (3-3 overall, 2-1 Big 12) broke the game open by scoring 17 points in the second quarter as Colorado lost four fumbles in the game.
With 11:37 left in the half, Williams found a seam in the defense and ran 61 yards to the Colorado 19. Two plays later, Tech quarterback Rob Peters threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Darrell Jones.
Colorado's Damen Wheeler fumbled the kickoff at the Buffaloes 25 and Tech's Mark Washington recovered at the 27. Peters completed a 23-yard pass to Tim Baker that helped set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Williams with 8:41 left in the half.
After stopping two more Colorado possessions, Tech put together a 10-play, 62-yard drive culminated by a 36-yard field goal by Chris Birkholz with 2:09 left in the half.
The Buffaloes (3-3, 2-1) got their only touchdown early in the third quarter after Wheeler forced Baker to fumble and Robbie Robinson recovered on the Tech 30. One play later, quarterback Mike Moschetti completed a 37-yard pass to John Minardi to make it 17-7 with 14:16 left in the third quarter.
On Tech's next drive, Williams slipped around the left corner and ran for 66 yards to set up a 13-yard touchdown pass from Peters to Jones with 12:55 left in the third.
With 12:09 left, Colorado's Jeremy Aldrich kicked a 46-yard field goal.
Williams broke off a 35-yard run, setting up his 6-yard run three plays later for a touchdown and a 31-10 lead with 9:14 to play.
Peters passed for 181 yards and two touchdowns and Moschetti threw for 194 and a score.
