LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech football staff utilized a 60-minute workout in shorts and helmets Monday evening to focus on teaching and implementing early phases of the game plan for this week?s game at Missouri.
?We had a good Monday, but Monday is always better when you win,? head coach Spike Dykes said. ?The walking wounded are back in harness and seem to be doing well.?
Part of the ?walking wounded? Dykes was referring to included receiver Derek Dorris, who has been battling a nagging hamstring injury for virtually the whole month of October. Dorris hasn?t dressed for a game since re-aggravating the pull early in the Texas A&M game.
Texas Tech takes a slightly different approach to in-season Monday practices, waiting until 7 p.m. to conduct the workout, giving Red Raider coaches more time to study opposing film and get a jump start on game plan implementation.
?We really like this approach,? Dykes said. ?We believe it is the best way for us to utilize Mondays and not waste preparation time.?
Texas Tech comes into its second consecutive Big 12 Conference road game with a 4-3 overall record, 3-1 in league play. The Red Raiders have won three of their last four games. Missouri is 3-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
Kickoff for Saturday?s game is set for 1 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Columbia, Mo. There will be no television for the game.
