LUBBOCK, Texas - Special teams were a special focus Wednesday as Texas Tech continued preparations for Saturday?s matchup at Missouri with a two-hour workout on the grass practice fields Southeast of Jones Stadium.
?A pretty good day,? head coach Spike Dykes said following the drill. ?A lot of the bruises have healed and we should be full tilt for the game. We will just take it from there.?
Saturday?s Big 12 Conference matchup is the second consecutive road game for Texas Tech, who won at Baylor last week. Dykes said that while playing on the road always presents unique challenges, there shouldn?t be any extraordinary problems for the Red Raiders.
?Going on the road has never been a problem for this team,? Dykes said. ?Over the last two or three years we seem to have played better on the road than we have at home.?
Texas Tech is 4-3 overall and winners of three of its last four games. The Red Raiders are tied for the lead in the Big 12 South Division at 3-1. Missouri is 3-4 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Saturday will mark Texas Tech?s first trip to Memorial Stadium on the Missouri campus in Columbia. The previous two games in the series were both played at Jones Stadium in Lubbock and the series is tied at one game apiece.
Kickoff for this week?s game is set for 1 p.m. There will be no television, but the game may be heard on the Texas Tech All Sports Radio Network on affiliates in Texas and New Mexico. The broadcast, in both English and Spanish, may also be accessed via the Internet at www.texastech.com.
