Texas Tech Men 10th at Conference Championships
October 30, 1999 | Men's Cross Country
"It wasn't a tremendous race for us," Tech coach Dave Smith said. "We felt like coming into this we could be as high as seventh or we could finish last. As it is we just came in right there in the middle."
However, it was an improvement over last year when the men finished 12th at the conference meet. The team was also slowed by an injury to freshman Ryan Cruz, who had been nursing an injured ankle for the last three weeks and was returning to racing action for the first time since October 2.
After Ndungu, the men were led by David Leigh, who finished 29th (28th adjusted) in a time of 25:58. After Leigh it was Jesse Williams (66th, 60th adjusted, 27:03) Ryan Cruz (69th, 63rd adjusted, 27:11), and Adrian Dodds (81st, 72nd adjusted, 27:57).
Also competing for Texas Tech was Chris Thomas (91st, 81st adjusted, 29:04) and Gary Bodony (94th, 82nd, adjusted, 29:21).
