LUBBOCK, Texas - With its first home game in almost three weeks on the horizon, the Texas Tech football team went through a brisk, spirited 60-minute workout in sweats Monday evening.
?This was the best Monday night practice we have had this year,? head coach Spike Dykes said. ?I think our players understand that if we are going to play good we have to practice good.?
The workout was the first since Texas Tech lost at Missouri over the weekend. The Red Raiders entertain Iowa State in a Big 12 Conference matchup this week at Jones Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
Texas Tech worked in position groups before beginning early stages of implementation of the game plan for the Cyclones. The Red Raiders are 4-4 overall, 3-2 in conference play and still control their own destiny as far as the Big 12 South Division championship is concerned.
?Everybody understands how important this game is,? Dykes said. ?It?s time we put the pedal to the metal and get better. There?s still plenty for this team to play for.?
There will be no television for Saturday?s game, but the game will be broadcast on the Texas Tech All Sports Radio Network throughout Texas and eastern New Mexico.
