LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head basketball coach James Dickey announced today that Jamal Brown of Fort Scott (Kan.) CC has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University and compete for the Red Raiders beginning in the 2000-01 season.
?Jamal is a quality young man who will bring experience and leadership to our program,? Dickey said. ?He is a fierce competitor who has great quickness and speed. He can really score and also has the ability to create and get everyone involved offensively. His ability to score and decision making makes him very difficult to defend.?
Brown (6-0, 178) is in his first season at Fort Scott (Kan.) CC after playing for a season at Meridian College in Mississippi. He averaged 12 points and seven assists per game at MC and helped lead the team to a fourth-place finish at the national junior college tournament last spring.
As a high school senior at Dallas Skyline, he averaged 25 points and 10 assists per game to earn all-state honors in 1998.
