LUBBOCK, Texas - College Football Hall of Fame member and former Texas Tech center E.J. Holub was a guest at practice Wednesday as the Red Raiders prepared for Saturday?s regular-season finale against Oklahoma.
?It?s always great to have E.J. around. What a great player and a great man,? head coach Spike Dykes said. ?I know the players appreciate the fact that former players are in their corner and interested in what they are doing.?
The Red Raiders worked for about 90 minutes in shoulder pads and headgear, working on implementation of the game plan and against Oklahoma schemes. The workout ended with work on the kicking game and two-minute offense.
?I thought we practiced pretty well, with some zip,? Dykes said. ?Oklahoma presents a lot of problems and does a lot of things well, so we have our work cut out for us.?
Texas Tech comes into the game 5-5 and needing a victory to qualify for post-season play. Oklahoma is 6-3 and closes their season next week against rival Oklahoma State.
The game is the final home game for 21 Texas Tech seniors, who will be honored in pregame ceremonies. Kickoff is set for 11:38 a.m. CST. FOX Sports will televise the game to a regionally syndicated audience.
