Cory Carr Named Third Team All-America

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech University senior guard Cory Carr (Kingsland, Ark.) has been named third-team All-America by Basketball Times, the publication announced on Monday.
Carr is averaging a league-high 23.4 points per game and is on track to lead the Big 12 Conference in scoring again this season. The four-year Red Raider letterman who returned for his senior campaign has scored 20 or more points 19 times this season and 30 or more six times.
He scored a career-high 39 against Southwestern Louisiana and has had 30-plus twice against Baylor. He scored 33 against Oklahoma State.
Carr is one of three Big 12 Conference player of the year finalists and was a unanimous selection to the all-conference team by the Associated Press.
Carr and his teammates are preparing for the Texas Longhorns and Thursday's 6:00 p.m CST matchup in the opening round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament. The Red Raiders are 13-13 overall, 7-9 entering the tourney.

Carr, the Big 12's leading scorer with 23.4 points per game, joins TCU's Lee Nailon and Mike Jones, Baylor's Brian Skinner and Texas' Kris Clack on the first team. Yesterday Carr was named to the Associated Press All-Big 12 Team and was honored as a third-team All-America by Basketball Times.
The 6-4 Kingsland, Ark., guard is on track to lead the Big 12 again in scoring this season. He has scored in double figures in the last 47 games and has scored 20 or more points 19 times this season. He has hit for 30 on six occasions.
