Wrap-Up of the TTU-Missouri Game The Texas Tech Lady Raiders never trailed the Missouri Tigers Saturday night at Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, but the Lady Raiders had to survive a late push by Missouri to defeat the Tigers 74-68.
Texas Tech jumped out to a 17-0 lead to start the game and led by as many as 22 points in the second half before the Tigers came charging back. The Tigers cut the Tech lead to two points by the three-minute mark and got within two again with 21 seconds remaining in the game.
But Melinda Schmucker and Rene Hanebutt each knocked down a pair of free throws in the final 18 seconds to ice the win for Texas Tech.
Angie Braziel led all scorers in the game with 28 points. Rene Hanebutt was the only other Lady Raider in double-figures with 18 points.
It also marks the sixth straight game in which Texas Tech was outrebounded by its opponents.
About Oklahoma State
In his 16th year at Oklahoma State, head coach Dick Halterman
looks for his Cowgirl squad to claim its second straight road win. The
Cowgirls defeated Baylor in Waco on Feb. 6 by the score of 58-56.
Three seniors bring a wealth of experience to the OSU starting lineup. Leading the team in scoring is junior forward Jennifer Crow who brings team-highs of 16.7 points and 5.5 rebounds into Wednesday's game. She ranks eighth in the league in scoring and third in free throw percentage (82.8%). Senior guard Kourtney Bower is second to Tech's Melinda Schmucker in assist-turnover ratio (1.76).

history, 10-8, but Tech has won the last five straight meetings,
including a 79-68 win in Stillwater on Jan. 16. The last time the Lady Raiders
lost to OSU in Lubbock took place on Jan.8, 1997 as the Cowgirls defeated the
Lady Raiders, 78-56. It was also the last time Tech has lost a home
conference game - the winning streak for Tech is now at 21 home
conference games.

Angie Braziel scored 26 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead
No. 6 Texas Tech to a 79-68 victory over Oklahoma State on Jan. 16.
Texas Tech scored 14 straight points to open the game - thanks to five Oklahoma State turnovers in the Cowgirls' first six possessions. The Red Raiders (16-1, 5-0 Big 12) increased their lead to 31-13 with 9:35 to go in the first half. But Oklahoma State went on a 19-4 run to cut it to 35-32 at the half.
Tech went on a 16-3 run early in the second half to go up by 15. OSU didn't get closer than eight points in the last six minutes of the game.
Braziel hit 11 of 18 shots from the floor as the Red Raiders shot 49 percent. Texas Tech also hit eight of 17 3-point shots and was 15-of-21 from the free-throw line. Rene Hanebutt added 19 for Texas Tech and Julie Lake had 15, as the Red Raiders shot 56 percent in the second half, including four-of-seven three-pointers after the break.
Among the Best in the Nation...
After opening the 1998-99 season with a preseason ranking of
#12, the Lady Raiders have steadily climbed up in the polls since November.
In the weeks following, Texas Tech spend time at #14, #15, #13, #12, #10,
#8, #7, and as high as #6 before dropping to its current position of #11 in
this week's Associated Press poll. In this week's USA Today/ESPN poll,
