LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior Montae Reagor (Waxahachie, Texas) has been named a preseason first-team All-America by Football Digest in the publication's August issue.
Reagor is one of three Big 12 Conference players on the first-team, which also included Texas running back Ricky Williams (no relation to Texas Tech sophomore tailback Ricky Williams) and Texas A&M linebacker Dat Nguyen.
Reagor, a 6-2, 254 defensive end, enters the 1998 season needing just seven tackles for losses to pass former Texas Tech All-Americas Zach Thomas and Gabriel Rivera as the Red Raiders' career leader. He also needs just one sack to become the school's leader in that category. Reagor has 27 tackles for loss and 17.5 sacks during his Texas Tech career.
Texas Tech opens the 1998 season Sept. 5 against Texas-El Paso at Jones Stadium. The Red Raiders begin Big 12 action at Iowa State on Sept. 26. Texas Tech will host conference rivals Baylor, Oklahoma State, Missouri and Texas at Jones Stadium this season. The deadline for season ticket renewals is Friday, June 5, while new season ticket sales begin Monday, June 22.
