Volleyball Dominates UW-Milwuakee

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Texas Tech used strong hitting to defeat the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 15-9, 15-3, 15-4 in the Red Raiders' third match of the Brion's Grill Invitational at George Mason University. The win improves Texas Tech to 4-0 on the season and drops Wisconsin-Milwaukee to 1-2. Texas Tech has now swept each match that it has played.
The Red Raiders hit a combined .320 (45-14-97) in the match and held UW-Milwaukee to .000 hitting (28-28-93). Courtney Putnam and Natalie Rives led the Red Raiders with 10 kills and nine kills respectively. Putnam hit .409 (10-1-22) while Rives finished at a .333 clip (9-3-18). Sonia Moric hit .625 (6-1-8) and Lori Garber contributed .333 hitting (5-1-12). Heather Hughes also had five service aces.
The match was close in game one as UW-Milwaukee tied the Red Raiders at 9-9. But Texas Tech rattled off five straight points to take game one 15-9. Texas Tech never looked back as it defeated the Panthers 15-3 and 15-4 in games two and three.
