Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at Lsu Tourney

BATON ROUGE, La. - The 20th-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team finished seventh in the LSU-Fairwood Invitational golf tournament, while junior All-America candidate Brooke Lowrance posted an eighth-place finish. Tech posted a 315 today, the team's highest round of the tournament, to finish at 929. Seventh-ranked and host LSU claimed a four-shot victory over Memphis, 890 to 894, on the par 72, 5,835-yard Fairwood Country Club layout. Other top finishers included No. 19 UCLA (913)in third place, No. 24 Alabama (914) fourth, Mississippi State (916) fifth and Tulane (922) in sixth.
Lowrance, who has four top-10 finishes, tied for eighth with a 9-over-par 225. She fired a 4-over 76 in today's final round.
Sophomore Alana Soliz (234) and freshman Priscillia Hunt each tied for 37th. Sophomore Jamie Vannoy (236) tied for 45th, while senior Kristin Kight (249) was 70th.
The Red Raiders will next be in action April 6-7 at the Utah-Dixie Classic. The two-day, 54-hole event will be Tech's final tournament before the Big 12 Conference Championship April 24-26 at Norman, Okla.
