Women's Golf Moves up at LSU Tourney

BATON ROUGE, La. - The 20th-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team moved up into a tie for sixth with a second-round 305 at the LSU-Fairwood Invitational.
The Red Raiders are tied with Arkansas-Little Rock at 614. They trail front-running Memphis who fired a second-consecutive 296 to stand at 592 after two rounds. Host LSU closed the gap to four strokes with a 596 total after a 294 today. Mississippi State (604) is third, UCLA (605) fourth and Alabama (611) fifth.
Four nationally ranked squads make up the 14-team field that is challenging the par 72, 5,835-yard Fairwood Country Club layout through Sunday. Seventh-ranked LSU, 19th-ranked UCLA, 24th-ranked Alabama and 26th-ranked Missouri are among the teams vying for the title. Memphis, Mississippi State, Arkansas-Little Rock and Florida State are also among the top 50 women's golf teams.
Junior All-America candidate Brooke Lowrance, who was tied for second on Friday, fell to seventh with a 5-over 77. Her 149 is four strokes off the lead held by UCLA's Amandine Vincent (145) and Memphis' Amanda Moltke-Leth.
Sophomore Jamie Vannoy (t28th, 154), freshman Priscillia Hunt (t36th, 155) and sophomore Alana Soliz (t38th, 156) each shot rounds of 4-over 76 today. Senior Kristin Kight (t60th, 164) struggled to a 10-over 82 for the second straight day.
The tournament wraps up on Sunday with the final round of the 54-hole event.
