AMES, Iowa - The Texas Tech Red Raiders' hot hitting was too much for Iowa State to handle, as the Red Raiders hit a torrid .526 from the floor to defeat the Cyclones in volleyball action Saturday night at the Forker Building in Ames, Iowa.
Courtney Putnam and Sonia Moric provided the spark for TTU, garnering 14 and 10 kills, respectively. Putnam hit .500 from the floor, while Moric was 10-for-12 for a .667 hitting percentage. Setter Lisa Hilgers added 32 assists to the TTU attack.
ISU, which hit .213 in the match, received a strong showing from Virginia Hoss, smacking 13 kills for a .348 hitting percentage. Nanette Allen chipped in with 11 kills for ISU. The Red Raiders increased their record to 13-4 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play, while the Cyclones fall to 2-14 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
The Cyclones are home again Wednesday night in the Forker Building, playing host to Missouri at 7 p.m.
