FAIRFAX, Va. -- Texas Tech hit a sterling .336 en route to defeating Liberty 15-3, 15-9, 15-6 in the Brion's Grill Invitational at George Mason University. With the victory, Texas Tech improves to 3-0 on the season while Liberty falls to 1-1.
Lori Garber led the way for Texas Tech with 14 kills. The junior transfer connected on 14 of 19 attempts (four errors) and finished with a .526 hitting percentage. She was followed by 11 kills apiece from Kristen Holmes and Courtney Putnam. Natalie Rives added eight kills, Lisa Hilgers led the Red Raiders with 13 digs and 47 assists and Holmes chipped in 11 digs.
As a team, Texas Tech hit .336 as it finished the match with 56 kills, 19 errors and 110 attacks. Liberty hit only .057 (26-20-106) and had only 30 digs. Texas Tech finished with 51 digs.
