Women's Volleyball to Hold 4th Annual Spring Event

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech volleyball program will conduct its fourth annual Spring Fling Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 25, 1998 on the Texas Tech University campus. The event raises money for the Texas Tech Women's Athletic/Volleyball Booster Program. To register to participate in the event, please call Texas Tech assistant volleyball coach Mike Lessinger at (806) 742-3355 (Ext. 280).
An estimated 400 participants will compete in eight different divisions- Corporate A (Advanced Co-ed 4s), Corporate B (Novice Co-ed 4s), Men's Open (2-man), Women's Open (2-man), Men's A (2-man), Youth 18&under (2-man), Youth 14&under (2-man) and Student Organizations. Four Lubbock area businesses have already been slated to sponsor the event- KLLL Radio, Powerade, Aalon Salon and Cox Communications. There also will be a Texas Tech coaches vs. media game on Saturday.
"We think this year's Spring Fling will be a tremendous success," Texas Tech head volleyball coach Jeff Nelson said. "We urge everyone to participate. It should be a fun day for everyone involved- the sponsors- KLLL, Powerade, Aalon Salon and Cox Communications, the participants and the coaches." Should the event be rained out on Saturday, April 25 the altermate day for Spring Fling is on Sunday, April 26.
