LUBBOCK, Texas - For the first time in the league's three-year history, Big 12 Conference officials announced future football schedules for the next four seasons. The schedules were announced during the annual spring meetings taking place in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"It's nice to be able to finalize our plans for the next few years with regards to football scheduling," said Texas Tech athletic director Gerald Myers. "There are so many positives to getting these schedules completed early. Fans can make their travel plans, hotels can block rooms on home game weekends and our travel coordinators can prepare for away games. I'm thrilled that we can get this information out well in advance of the future football seasons."
The league will use its regular rotating scheduling matrix with each school playing three teams from the opposite division home and away in successive years. Every other year, each team will swap its opposite division opponents.
In 2000, Texas Tech will trade Colorado, Iowa State and Missouri for Kansas, Kansas State and Nebraska. Of the three, only the Nebraska game in 2000 will be at Jones Stadium. The following season, the Red Raiders will host Kansas and Kansas State.
