LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech University head mens basketball coach James Dickey announced today that James Rike has resigned as assistant basketball coach to pursue a high school coaching opportunity.
"James is a fine young coach and we wish him much success in the future," Dickey said. "He has been an intergral part of this program over the last five years, both as a player and coach."
Rike was a walk-on during the Red Raiders Southwest Conference Championship season in 1995 after transferring from Eastern New Mexico in 1993. He worked as a student assistant coach during the 1995-96 Sweet Sixteen season and became director of basketball operations the following year. He served the last two seasons as an assistant coach.
