Williams Named Lindys All-American

LUBBOCK, Texas - Lindys annual football publication has named Texas Tech running back Ricky Williams to its preseason All-America squad. This is the third preseason All-America honor for Williams this year.
Williams, a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate, was one of two running backs named to the team (Ron Dayne - Wisconsin). In just two seasons, Williams has established himself as one of the nations top running backs. He is sixth on the schools all-time rushing list with 2,476 yards in two seasons. The junior from Duncanville, Texas, rushed for 1,582 yards last season and finished fourth in the nation with 144 yards per game.
The Red Raiders offensive line was listed as the nations third best, behind Wisconsin and Florida State. Jonathan Gray was listed as the No. 2 offensive tackle in the country, while Curtis Lowery was listed 10th among all guards. Listed among the nations top defensive players are Taurus Rucker and Kris Kocurek.
