LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech got things back to normal during Monday night?s practice after a brief week of workouts last week. The Red Raiders? practice schedule last week was shortened due to Tech?s game at Arizona State last Monday night.
The Red Raiders went through a brief workout on the Jones Stadium turf in preparation for this weekend?s home opener against North Texas. Tech used the practice to work out the soreness from Saturday night?s game at UL-Lafayette after taking the NCAA mandated day off on Sunday.
?Everything went OK tonight,? head coach Spike Dykes said. ?We took care of some of the soreness and worked hard. We looked at North Texas, offensively and defensively. This was a good start to the week.?
The Red Raiders may still be short four offensive starters. Tailback Ricky Williams (knee) and right guard Jason May (knee) are out. Fullback Sammy Morris (shoulder) and right tackle Matt Heider (hamstring) are questionable. The four players were injured during the season opener at Arizona State. Defensive back Oscar Solis also is questionable with an ankle sprain suffered during last weekend?s game.
Dan Martin and Paul Erickson would step in at guard and tackle, respectively. James Easterling will get the nod at tailback, while Rudy Renda and Toby Shain will get work at fullback if Morris can?t play.
