LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech softball coach Renee Gillispie has been suspended for this weekend's tournament for allowing a student-athlete to participate who had not been officially certified under NCAA regulations.
A Red Raider softball player played in two games last Sunday before receiving proper eligibility clearance from the institution. The student-athlete will also be required by NCAA regulations to sit out two games due to her participation without certification.
The Texas Tech softball team will be in Moline, Ill., this weekend to participate in the State Farm National Invitational Championship.
