LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech football team put the final touches on preparations for Monday?s season-opener at Arizona State with a 40-minute practice on shorts Saturday morning.
The Red Raiders rehearsed bench control, worked on situational offensive and defensive schemes before finishing with the kicking game. The spirited workout was held in Jones Stadium.
?There?s really nothing left to say except that it is time to suit up and play,? said head coach Spike Dykes, who begins his 13th season at the helm of the Texas Tech program. ?We?re looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity we have in this game.?
Texas Tech will take Sunday as its NCAA-mandated off day. The Red Raiders will then load a charter flight for Phoenix Monday morning to play the first of three games in 13 days.
The Red Raiders will have a short turnaround following the Arizona State game before travelling to Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday. Texas Tech?s home opener is Sept. 18 against North Texas.
Kickoff for the first meeting between Texas Tech and Arizona State is scheduled for 7:08 CDT. The game will be televised nationally by Fox Sports Net.
