Welker Awarded Big 12 Honor

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech return specialist Wes Welker was named SBC Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week by a select panel of media covering Big 12 football.
Welker was a jack-of-all-trades in the Red Raiders' game against Kansas over the weekend in Lawrence. The Oklahoma City native scored his second touchdown of the season on a 66-yard punt return and tacked on his third score of the year on a 42-yard run, his lone rush of the game. Welker totaled 272 all-purpose yards (83 yards receiving, 88 yards on punt returns, 69 yards on kickoff returns and 42 yards rushing). His receiving yardage and receptions are both career highs.
On the season, Welker leads the team in all-purpose yards with 90.9 per game. He has 42 rushing yards, 174 receiving yards, 312 punt return yards and 290 kickoff return yards. He leads the Red Raiders in both return categories.
