Men Finish Third at Texas Tech Open

The Texas Tech men's cross country "B" team took third at the Texas Tech Open Saturday morning at Mae Simmons Park.
All five of Tech's participants posted Top 25 marks, led by redshirt freshman Brian Wade's third-place finish. Wade's time of 27:04 was 56 seconds behind race winner Juan de Bastos of South Plains College.
Senior George Odom followed Wade for the Red Raiders with an 11th-place showing, running the 8K race in 27:50. Freshman Chris Ramirez finished in 19th with a mark of 28:32.
Junior harrier Tom Williams was next with a time of 28:56 for 21st, while Chris Thomas finished 23rd with a mark of 29:18.
Also competing in Saturday's race for Tech were Jeremy Granger (29:51, 27th) and Cullen Shaw (33:48, 36th). Josh Allen ran unattached and finished in a time of 34:16.
Led by de Bastos, South Plains College won Saturday's meet with a team score of 22. South Plains took first, second , fourth, sixth and ninth in the race.
Texas Tech returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Ames, Iowa, to participate in the NCAA Pre-National Meet on the campus of Iowa State University. The race will be held on the same course that will host the NCAA Championships later this year.
