LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head softball coach Bobby Reeves announced the signing of Michell Vlahos-Lusi and Jennifer Vaught on Friday, the third and fourth signees for the softball program during the early signing period.
Vaught, an all-state pitcher/second baseman from Klein High School in Klein, Texas, batted .353 and posted a 1.81 earned run average during her junior season.
"She is a very versatile player who can pitch and play the middle infield," Reeves said of Vaught. "She has terrific speed and is an excellent student."
Lusi, a switch hitter from El Dorado Hills, Calif., will provide the Red Raiders with speed and power, despite standing just over five feet. The right fielder/second baseman plays her high school ball for St. Francis High in Sacramento, Calif..
"Michell has a strong arm. She is a small girl, but has good power," Reeves said. "We add much-needed depth and speed to our outfield, and she also is an excellent student."
Reeves and the Red Raiders open their season February 3 against New Mexico State in a doubleheader.
