LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head softball coach Bobby Reeves announced the signing of Lisa Lawler, a 5-9 catcher/outfielder from College Station, Texas, Wednesday afternoon.
Lawler attends A&M Consolidated High School in College Station, where she plays for coach Robin Brady. She was voted Newcomer of the Year as a freshman, and has also been recognized with First Team All-District and Second Team All-State honors while in high school.
"Not only is she a great athlete, but she knows the game," Reeves said. "She's been around the game all of her life. Any kind of situation she comes across, she knows how to handle it. She will be a great addition to our team."
Lawler is the first signee for Reeves at Texas Tech, as he begins his first season as head coach of the Red Raider program.
"If we can continue to sign players like her, our program will be heading in the right direction."
Her father is Jim Lawler, the pitching coach for Texas A&M. Lawler plays for the Spring Klein Hawks ASA summer team.
