Senior forward Brodney Kennard is quickly moving up the blocking charts at Texas Tech ... he has 51 rejections this season, which ranks second on the single-season blocks list behind Tony Battie (68) ... Kennard ranks sixth all-time at Tech with 88 swats.
TECH PERFECT WHEN LEADING LATE
Texas Tech is 9-0 on the season when leading with five minutes remaining in the second half. When trailing with five minutes left, Tech is 0-11.
SERIES VS. BAYLOR
Texas Tech leads the series 61-37, including this season's 71-57 loss in Waco Jan. 26. Texas Tech has won 10 of the last 14 meetings and has lost two in a row to the Bears only once during James Dickey's tenure as head coach. The Red Raiders lead the series 32-12 in Lubbock and 24-23 in Waco. The two teams have met seven times on neutral floors with Tech holding a 5-2 advantage.

TEXAS GAME CLOSES TOUGH STRETCH
Texas Tech is finally at the end of a four-game stretch of ranked opponents. The Red Raiders faced Oklahoma (#17), Oklahoma State (#14), Kansas (#15) and Texas (#16) in their last four games.
SCOUTING TEXAS TECH
The Red Raiders dropped to 9-11 overall and 0-9 in the Big 12 following Wednesday night's 76-60 loss at No. 16 Texas. Rayford Young continues to lead the team with 16.0 points per game, while Mario Layne (13.5) and James Ware (10.8) follow. Brodney Kennard leads with 6.8 rebounds and is third in the league with 2.6 blocks per game. Texas Tech is averaging 70.2 points per game and holds a slim advantage over its opponents by 0.7 points. Tech is hitting 44.1 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from the three-point arc. Tech is second in the Big 12 with a 70 percent success rate from the foul line.
SCOUTING BAYLOR
Despite owning just a pair of victories in Big 12 action, Baylor has won two of its last four games, the most recent an 81-75 triumph at Texas A&M on Feb. 2. The Bears' other league victory was a 71-57 home win versus Texas Tech Jan. 26. BU is 9-5 at home this season. Senior guard Tevis Stukes leads the team with 17.0 points per game, and leads the conference by averaging 3.4 three-point makes per outing. Junior forward Terry Black averages 13.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game, while junior guard DeMarcus Minor averages 12.2 points and 6.2 assists per outing.
TEXAS TECH HEAD COACH JAMES DICKEY
Texas Tech Head Coach James Dickey is in his ninth season as the Red Raider mentor with a 154-100 overall record. Dickey has guided the Red Raiders to two NCAA Tournaments, including 1996's Sweet Sixteen appearance. Tech also has made a trip to the NIT under Dickey. He is third all-time at the University with 154 wins, trailing Gerald Myers (326 wins / 1971-91) and Polk Robison (254 wins / 1942-46, 47-61). The Red Raiders won the SWC regular-season title in 1995 and tied for the honor the following season. He became only the second coach in Texas Tech history to take a team through an undefeated conference season, when the Red Raiders finished 14-0 in the SWC in 1996. He also holds the distinction of the being the only coach in school history to record a 30-win season (1995-96). He is a two-time Southwest Conference Coach of the Year.
DICKEY VS. BAYLOR
Texas Tech is 11-7 against Baylor under head coach James Dickey. Dickey is 6-2 against the Bears in Lubbock. Three of the last five losses against the Baylor have been in overtime.
BAYLOR HEAD COACH DAVE BLISS
Dave Bliss is in his first season at Baylor after serving as head coach at New Mexico for the previous 11 season. Bliss' overall record is 476-280 in 24 seasons as a collegiate head coach. During his tenure in the college ranks, Bliss has guided 11 teams to the NCAA Tournament and four to the NIT. In addition to Baylor and New Mexico, he has coached at Oklahoma, where he got his head coaching start, and SMU. Bliss graduated from Cornell in 1967 and served as an assistant under Bob Knight for two seasons at Army and four years at Indiana.

Rayford Young is currently 14th on the all-time scoring list at Texas Tech. He has 1,336 career points in 99 games. He trails Del Ray Mounts by 10 points for the 13th position and needs 85 points to move past Dub Malaise in 12th place. Young began the season in 24th place.

Young needs 23 assists to break the 400-mark for his career and become only the third Red Raider in history to accomplish a 1,000-point, 400-assist career. MARKED IMPROVEMENT
Senior forward Mario Layne has nearly double his production from last season. Included in this season's highlights for Layne is a career-high 32-point effort against Prairie View A&M. Layne was 12-of-20 from the field, 3-of-4 from the three-point arc, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.

RED RAIDERS CASHING IN AT THE LINE
Texas Tech is second in the Big 12 in free throw shooting at 70 percent. Despite a 64.9 percentage in Big 12 games, the Red Raiders continue to dominate at the line. In 20 games this season, Tech has connected on 294-of-420 attempts. Rayford Young leads the team with 81.2 percent and is second in the Big 12.
HOBBS, MALONE PICK UP SLACK
With the injury to Jayson Mitchell limiting his play, Texas Tech has come to rely on freshman guard Ronald Hobbs and sophomore guard Moses Malone, Jr. Hobbs posted a career-high nine points at Kansas. His previous career high of seven points came against the Sooners. In the last four games, Hobbs is averaging 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, after averaging 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds up to that point. Malone scored a career-high 11 points at home against Oklahoma and is averaging 2.6 points per game.
FALTESEK IS PLEASANT SURPRISE
Freshman walk-on Josh Faltesek, played in his third game Wednesday night at Texas and posted a career-high 21 minutes. Against Kansas, playing in only his second game, Faltesek set career-highs in points (5) and rebounds (3).
GET THAT OUTTA HERE
Texas Tech ranks third in the Big 12 in blocked shots with 5.1 per game. Kansas is the leader with 5.9 blocks per outing.
LOOK WHO'S LEFT
Maybe it's unique, maybe it isn't, but two of Tech's top six contributors are left-handed. Mario Layne and Jayson Mitchell average 13.5 and 6.6 points per game, respectively for Tech.

INJURY UPDATE
Andy Ellis - Out for the season ... had surgery Tuesday (2/1) on his left shoulder to repair cartilage damage after dislocating it against Nebraska. Jayson Mitchell - Returned against Oklahoma State after sitting for one game because of a bruised ankle he suffered at Baylor ... sat out at Kansas and Texas ... is day-to-day. Cliff Owens - Out for the season ... underwent ankle surgery during the preseason ... will receive redshirt season.
TECH'S WOES CONTINUE
Texas Tech continues to struggle through an eight-game losing streak, all in Big 12 Conference play. The last time a Tech team dropped eight straight, came during the 1989-90 season when the Red Raiders finished the year with 18-straight losses and an 0-18 conference mark.
TECH OPPONENTS RANKED AMONG BEST

ATTENDANCE RECORDS
Texas Tech's sellout crowd of 15,050 against Indiana at the inaugural game in the United Spirit Arena marked the largest home crowd in school history to witness a Red Raider basketball game. The A&M game crowd of 14,324 is the second largest, while the Texas game drew 14,045.
TECH CELEBRATES 75TH SEASON
The 1999-2000 season is the 75th in the history of the Red Raiders men's basketball program. The school began the program prior to the 1925-26 season. Tech's first game was a 37-25 loss to Daniel Baker on Jan. 25, 1926. The first win was a 35-21 victory at Sul Ross State on Feb. 4 of the same season. The Red Raiders hold an overall record of 1,094-813 (.576).
NINETIES THE SECOND-BEST DECADE
Texas Tech won 160 of 292 games (54.8 percent) played during the 90s. The winningest decade came during the 70s when the Red Raiders won 174 games. Here's a rundown of the top five decades for wins: 1970s (174), 1990s (160), 1980s (153), 1950s (146), 1940s (143).
PRIME TIME
Texas Tech christened the United Spirit Arena in front a live national audience on ESPN Fri., Nov. 19, when the Red Raiders hosted Big Ten power Indiana in the season opener for both teams. COACH DICKEY ON THE RADIO
Texas Tech head coach James Dickey can be heard Thursday nights at 7 p.m. during the season on KKAM 1340 in Lubbock on the James Dickey Radio Show. Red Raider play-by-play veteran Jack Dale hosts the show from Jazz - A Louisiana Kitchen. The show is open to callers.

RED RAIDERS INK THREE PLAYERS
Texas Tech signed three players to national letters of intent during the early signing period - Marcus Shropshire (Grand Prairie, Texas / South Grand Prairie H.S), Jamal Brown (Dallas, Texas / Fort Scott C.C.) and Jermichael Miller (Houston, Texas / Wheatley). Shropshire is considered the No. 1 point guard in the state.
