Amanda Renfro Named Big 12 Softball Pitcher of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior right handed pitcher Amanda Renfro was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 5 the conference office announced this afternoon. It is the first such honor for a Texas Tech softball athlete in the 2000 season. The announcement of the honor was delayed a week due to last week's men's and women's conference basketball tournaments.
The Houston, Texas, native set a school record for strikeouts in a game with 15 against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 4. Renfro went 3-1 for the week and posted a 0.00 earned run average in 27.1 innings pitched. A 1998 first-team all-league selection, Renfro had 44 strikeouts for the week with only three walks. Additionally, she threw a no-hitter against TAMU-CC and was named the most valuable player at the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Tournament.
For the season Renfro has a record of 7-12 with an ERA of 1.26. She has pitched a complete game in all19 of her starts and has struck out 160 batters. She has also thrown a school single-season record three no-hit games.
