Women's Tennis Snaps Losing Streak

Texas Tech women's tennis team snapped a six-match losing streak today to start a three-day road trip in South Texas with a victory over Lamar, 6-3 in Beaumont. The Red Raiders improve to 3-7 on the year with all their victories coming on the road, while Lamar drops to 9-9.
Tech won four out of six in singles action. Ayako Suzuki improves her record to 7-8 to lead the Red Raiders by defeating Catalina Paz, 6-1, 6-0 in position No. 2. Also, victorious for Tech were Renee Pereira and Christen Emmett. Noel Ruiz went three sets before winning position No. 4 over Lamar's Alta Wentzel, 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-6(3).
In doubles actions, Tech's Amanda Earhart and Suzuki defeated Barbara Schraml and Kasia Finkowska, 8-3 to improve their record to 8-7 overall. In position No. 3, Christen Emmett and Pereira won 8-4 for the Red Raiders.
The women continue on the road tomorrow in Houston to take-on Rice at 11 a.m.
