LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech fastpitch softball program has a new assistant coach. Tech officials named Sara Holland as the second assistant Wednesday. Holland replaces Christopher Dillion who resigned from the program in March to pursue other interests.
"Personally I am very excited to have Sara on our staff and I'm sure the players feel the same way," Tech interim head coach Carla Marchetti said. "Coaching is the career path Sara has chosen. She loves the Big 12 conference and it is the ideal place for her to be. I know bringing her in will be a great move for this program."
Holland comes to tech after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Virginia. She is a 1999 graduate of the University of Kansas where she was a three-time All-Big 12 softball selection. She was also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. During her four years at Kansas she set school records for career doubles and doubles in a season. She is also among the school career leaders in four other categories.
"I'm excited to be at Texas Tech and back in the Big 12," Holland said. "I can't express how thrilled I am with the opportunity to work with coach Marchetti and the girls."
