Paula Workman selected to Big 12 First Team

The Big 12 Conference announced its All-Conference teams today at the annual pre-tournament banquet in Oklahoma City. Leading the way for Texas Tech was Paula Workman, a senior shortstop from Austin named to the first team.
Three other Red Raiders, Amanda Renfro, Sandy Butler and Shauna Briggs, were named to the All-Big 12 second team.
Workman led the team with 21 RBI and six homeruns in 2000. She started 48 games at shortstop for the Red Raiders and had a .272 batting average.
Renfro was one of the most dominating pitchers in the conference this season, winning 14 games while sporting a 1.32 ERA. She logged 249 innings for Texas Tech, the most innings pitched by any Big 12 pitcher. Butler, a junior centerfielder, led Texas Tech with a .292 batting average and 19 stolen bases. It is the third consecutive year she has been selected to either the first or second team for the Big 12. Briggs was selected as an at-large player. The junior designated player hit .333 in conference play and was second on the team with 18 RBI.
