LUBBOCK, Texas - With the addition of the Hispanic College Fund Football Classic causing a delay in finalizing the Texas Tech football schedule, the date for general public season ticket sales has been pushed back to July 14, according to assistant athletic director for ticket operations Russell Warren.
The original date for general public sales was June 19 before the season-opening game against New Mexico was added to the Red Raider schedule just two weeks ago. According to Warren, the late addition of the 12th game has caused a delay in the football ticketing process.
"The delay in finalizing the schedule has caused our entire football ticketing process to be pushed back," Warren said. "Each step in the process is contingent upon the previous one being complete."
The revised timeline calls for season ticket renewals to be completed by July 6, with July 10-11 set aside for upgrading paid season ticket locations. General public season ticket sales begin July 14 and individual game ticket sales begin August 14.
"The good news is option sales are at a record high and season ticket renewals are progressing nicely," Warren said. "We have a lot of work to do between now and Aug. 26."
Texas Tech will host New Mexico in the HCF Football Classic Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. The game will be the first of four consecutive home games to open the Mike Leach era.
The Texas Tech athletic ticket office is located in the north endzone at Jones SBC Stadium. Red Raider fans interested in purchasing football tickets may call the ticket office at 1-888-GO BIG 12 or (806) 742-TECH.
