LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced today that Texas Tech senior forward Cliff Owens (Santa Fe, Texas) is one of 12 league players named to the Big 12 All-Star team which will tour Europe in August.
Joining Owens on the team are Terry Black (Baylor), D.J. Harrison (Colorado), Jamaal Tinsley (Iowa State), Luke Axtell (Kansas), Quentin Buchanan (Kansas State), Brian Grawer (Missouri), Cary Cochran (Nebraska), Nolan Johnson (Oklahoma), Andre Williams (Oklahoma State), Chris Owens (Texas) and Bernard King (Texas A&M). Colorado's Ricardo Patton will serve as head coach.
"We're happy the Big 12 and the athletic directors are sending a team on a foreign tour," Texas Tech head coach James Dickey said. "We're also pleased that Cliff has been selected to participate. I know Ricardo Patton will do an outstanding job."
Owens sat out the duration of the 1999-2000 season due to an ankle injury. He averaged 10.4 points per game and led the Red Raiders in rebounding in 1998-99 with seven boards per game.
