Wildcats Get Revenge, Drop Tech 3-1

MANHATTAN, Kansas - The Texas Tech volleyball team was unable to pull off the season sweep of Kansas State as the Wildcats roared to a 3-1 win over the Red Raiders on Wednesday night in front of 2,102 fans at the Ahearn Field House in Manhattan.
With the loss, Texas Tech falls to 12-8 overall and 5-6 in the Big 12 while Kansas State improves to 12-6 overall and 8-4 in the league.
Kansas State took control of the match by winning the first two games 30-19 and 30-22 giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead at the intermission. Texas Tech forced the match to extra games by winning the third game 30-18 but Kansas State was able to hold on for the win taking the fourth game 30-25.
Senior outside hitter Heather Hughes-Justice paced both teams with 22 kills while Jessy Herrera led the Tech defense with 17 digs. Senior Skydra Orzen, currently the nation's leading setter, put up a match-high 53 assists.
Texas Tech returns to action on Saturday night when they take on the Kansas Jayhawks at the United Spirit Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
