LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech basketball teams will hold Midnight Madness - "A Sharp Knight in Texas" on Friday, Oct. 12 at the United Spirit Arena with doors opening at 8:45 p.m. for Student Red Raider Club members and 9:15 p.m. for the general public and students.
The event will begin at 9:45 p.m. with on court entertainment followed by musical entertainment by student-athletes. The men's and women's basketball teams will be signing autographs for an hour on the concourse level. Due to security reasons, outside items will not be allowed in the arena for autographs. Items will be available in the arena.
Both Coach Sharp and Coach Knight will address the crowd followed by introduction of both teams. At midnight, both teams will come together on the floor to lead the crowd in the singing of "God Bless America". Immediately following that, both teams will practice on the arena floor for approximately 30 minutes. After the practice, both teams will scrimmage for two ten-minute periods each. Coach Sharp and Coach Knight will be coaching for all four periods.
Admission for the event will be a minimum of a $2 donation and a canned food item. All monies from donations will go towards the American Red Cross relief efforts. All canned food will be given to the South Plains Food Bank.
"A Sharp Knight in Texas" commemorative glow-in-the-dark basketballs and t-shirts will be available for purchase with part of the proceeds going to the American Red Cross.
