Tech Volleyball Holds Off Kansas In Five

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Melissa McGehee and Angela Mooney tallied 41 kills to help lead the Texas Tech volleyball team to a 3-2 win (30-28, 26-30, 16-30, 30-21, 23-21) over the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday night in Lawrence, Kansas.
With the win, Texas Tech is now 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12 while Kansas falls to 11-5 on the season and 2-5 in the Big 12.
Junior outside Ann Romjue became one of 12 players in Texas Tech history to tally over 1,000 career digs. Romjue entered the match with Kansas needing 12 digs to surpass the 1,000 mark and now has 1,002 thanks to a 14 dig performance against the Jayhawks.
Sophomore middle blocker Angela Mooney paced Texas Tech on the night with 21 kills on 64 attacks for .250 hitting. Texas Tech returns to action on Monday night when they face-off against the New Mexico Lobos at 6 p.m. in the United Spirit Arena. The game is a rescheduled match from the week of Sept. 11th.
