LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior middle blocker Yolanda Cumbess has decided to leave the volleyball team due to personal reasons, head coach Jeff Nelson announced on Monday night.
"Yolanda has decided to leave our team due to reasons that stem from both a personal and academic nature," said Texas Tech head coach Jeff Nelson. "Yolanda will graduate in December with a degree in Industrial Engineering and has decided that her studies need to be the main focus right now. Personally, her goals have become very different than those of our team and the decision to leave the program was mutual. I wish Yolanda the very best in her future endeavors."
Cumbess has been Texas Tech's top hitter this season with an overall hitting percentage of .358 (168-45-344). Cumbess also leads the team with 168 kills.
