LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech senior free safety Kevin Curtis (Lubbock, Texas) and junior defensive end Aaron Hunt (Denison, Texas) have been named to the Football News All-American Team, released today by the publication.
Curtis, named to the publication's second team, is currently second on the team with 106 tackles this season and ranks second all-time at Texas Tech with 414 career stops. He is only the second player in school history to record more than 400 tackles. Curtis also ranks sixth on the career interceptions list with 10.
Hunt is on pace to break the career sacks record held by former Tech All-American Montae Reagor. Hunt, who was placed on the Football News' third team, has 25 sacks during his three-year career and needs one sack to set a new record. Hunt's 12 sacks this season established the single-season record at Tech and broke the old record of 11 sacks, set by Shawn Jackson in 1992.
Curtis, Hunt and the rest of the Red Raiders hit the Jones SBC Stadium turf for the final time this season when they host Stephen F. Austin at 1 p.m. this Saturday. Tickets for the game are $5 for general admission seats. Contact the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at (888) GO-BIG-12 or 742-TECH for more information.
