Texas Tech Press Conference November 5, 2001
Tech QB Kliff Kingsbury --
On the A&M pass rush:
"As far as not blitzing, just getting a pass rush with three people, it was one of the toughest lines we've faced. We threw it a lot and our line held up most the day, but they (A&M) have some great players up front."
On Oklahoma State:
"They have some great athletes year-in and year-out and this year they have a new staff and some new enthusiasm about them. It is a big game for them, so we are expecting a hostile environment and we are going to have to play well."
On the confidence of the team:
"I really feel like, for the first time in a long time, that we can win every game we play which goes a long way."
Tech RB Ricky Williams --
On the offensive line:
"They have come a long way and they have improved a lot. We didn't run the ball the way that we wanted, but Kliff had time to sit back there and throw. No one can be perfect on every play but that is something that we strive for. But I do think that this offensive line has come a long way and improved a lot."
On the confidence of the team:
"The main thing about this team is we have a lot more confidence and we started to build it more towards the middle of the season. I think that confidence is still within the team and will allow us to finish out and try to win the rest of the games."
Tech coach Mike Leach --
On keeping the team focused:
"You just keep emphasizing the same stuff, that is why I think that consistency is so important. I think that we have the challenge of keeping the team on track this week as far as having a great practice and paying attention to detail. There isn't any room for complacency or lack of effort. Our team, as individuals, needs to be strong enough to push themselves and we as coaches need to coach our techniques to and get what we demand out of them."
On facing an OSU team with a new staff:
"If it was early in the season it would be difficult, but we are going to have seven films on them so we will review the tapes and see what they have and go after it from there. But they could be up to something because they have had two weeks to prepare for us."
On OSU:
"They are a real talented team. Athletically, they are big, strong and fast. They have not played together as consistently as they maybe could have, but I feel like we are a little bit like that ourselves. Any team that has got talent can put it together and have a great game, there is no question about that. Les and his staff are going to get things squared away and if it is this week then we'll have more than our hands full."
