Red Raider Football Signs Mack

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head football coach Mike Leach announced today that the Red Raiders signed Johnnie Mack (Lakeland, Fla. / CC of San Francisco) to a National Letter of Intent. Mack will enroll at the university for the spring semester.
Mack is fresh off of leading CCSF to its third-straight national championship after rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns in the game to earn Most Valuable Player honors. Listed as the 95th-rated JuCo prospect in the country, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound running back also helped lead the team to a perfect 12-0 record.
"We're excited about signing Johnnie Mack," Leach said. "He is a great player, tremendous athlete and comes from a winning program. Johnnie is an explosive player with an unlimited amount of talent. We look forward to having him here in the spring."
Mack finished the 2001 campaign ninth in the state of California with 151 carries for 1,233 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also finished third in scoring with 12 points per game. He averaged 123 yards per game on the ground and 144.6 all-purpose yards.
