SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The coaches and players of the Texas Tech Football team arrived in San Antonio today to begin preparations for the 2001 Sylvania Alamo Bowl. The Red Raiders face Iowa at 2:30 p.m. Sat., Dec. 29, at the Alamodome.
Following a brief two-day break which allowed the players some time at home with their families, the team resumed workouts this afternoon at Trinity University. The group went through a light, but spirited workout. "We are focused and intense for this game, but at the same time we're remaining relaxed," defensive lineman Lamont Anderson said.
The game also marks a homecoming of sorts for quarterback Kliff Kingsbury, who grew up in nearby New Braunfels. Kingsbury didn't have to fight the lines at the airport or spend hours on the road en route to San Antonio.
"It's easy for me. That's the beauty of living in New Braunfels," Kingsbury said. "It's about a 20-minute drive into San Antonio. Now that we're here, I'm ready to play."
The Red Raiders will resume game preparations Monday afternoon at Trinity University.
