Women's Tennis Hosts Iowa State

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's tennis team will play host to Iowa State on Sun., Feb. 18, at 9 a.m. at the Lubbock Country Club. Tech is coming off its best start under head coach Virginia Brown at 5-1 and 1-1 in conference play. Iowa State enters the contest 1-2 and 0-1 in league play.
Each squad enters the weekend with a one-match conference losing streak. Both teams' lone conference loss came against Texas.
The Red Raiders look for continued success in singles action from freshman Irina Tereschenko. Tereschenko enters the match with a 5-1 overall record and 1-1 in the Big 12. In the lower part of the line-up Beverly Dawson, 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the Big 12, looks for her fourth win on the year as she has earned victories from the No. 4 and 5 positions.
In doubles action Dawson and Tereschenko team-up as the only remaining undefeated combo on the squad at 6-0 and 2-0 in conference play. The two played in the No. 1 position for the first time against Texas, defeating Kaysie Smashey and Joanne Masongsong, 8-4.
Following this weekend's match the Red Raiders travel to Waco, Texas, to take on Baylor on Sat., Feb. 24.
