Tech Softball Drops Decision to #14 Notre Dame

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The 14th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish scored four runs on just two hits in the sixth inning to take a 4-0 victory over Texas Tech in the opening game of the Morning News Invitational.
Both teams suffered through an almost seven-hour rain delay after the bottom of the third inning.
Both teams mustered only one hit through the first five innings, but leadoff hitter drew a walk to start the sixth for UND. After a popout, Kriech stole second. She then scored on a throwing error by Tech shortstop Rebecca Eimen.
Jarrah Myers put runners on the corners with one out, beating out an infield single deep in the hole between short and third. Myers stole second, and both runners scored on another throwing error by Eimen, giving the Irish a 3-0 advantage.
Danielle Klayman blooped a single into short left to plate the final run of the inning, as all four runs were unearned.
Amanda Renfro (5-5) suffered the loss for the Red Raiders, striking out seven and allowing just four hits to the 14th-ranked Irish.
Notre Dame's Jessica Sharron (4-0) allowed just one hit, a single to right by Andrea Joachims in the third, and struck out 10.
Tech will play Maine in a scheduled doubleheader at 10 a.m. on Saturday, weather permitting.
