LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech women's tennis team will face a very talented Baylor Bears team this weekend 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, in Waco, Texas. The Red Raiders enter the weekend 6-1, 2-1 in the Big 12. The No. 14 ranked Bears are on a four-match winning streak posting a 8-2 record, 2-0 in Big 12 action.
Freshman Irina Tereschenko is playing in the No. 1 position posting a 6-1 record overall and 2-1 in league play. Tereschenko defeated Iowa State's Kristin Gyaki in straight sets last weekend, 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles action, Tereschenko and Beverly Dawson have been proven as a duo not to mess with by posting a 6-1 overall record and 2-1 in league play. The two lost their first match of the season against Sabrina Evers and Nourtje Cornelisson of Iowa State, but look to rebound this weekend against 43rd-ranked combo Alison Bradley and Monica Gonzalez.
The all-time series is tied at nine with Baylor winning the last eight meetings.
Following this weekend's contest the Red Raiders return to action Sunday, March 4, in Lubbock against conference opponent Colorado.
