LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raider softball squad opens conference play this weekend in Stillwater, Okla., with a pair of games versus the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State.
The Cowgirls (17-10, 2-0 Big 12) lead the all-time series 8-3, 7-2 in Big 12 play. Because of inclement weather, Tech (21-11, 0-0) has played just twice in Stillwater, dropping a pair of decisions in 1997, meaning no one on the current Tech roster has ever played at Cowgirl Stadium on the OSU campus.
Tech's last victory over OSU came February 14, 1999, at the UTA/Pepsi Intercollegiate in Grand Prairie, Texas, in an 11-3 victory. In that game, Amanda Renfro picked up the win, allowing three runs, one earned, on eight hits with 11 strikeouts, while fellow senior Sandy Butler went 2-for-3 and was hit by a pitch twice in the contest.
After its visit to Stillwater, the Red Raiders return home to play Texas A&M on March 28, Tech's first home game since a February 3 doubleheader versus New Mexico State.
